Exhibition stands are limited-size branded structures used by companies and organizations to display their products and services at various exhibition events.
The main objectives of the exhibition display stand are: presentation of the company’s goods and services, creation and maintenance of the right business reputation, marketing communication with the audience and advertising to increase brand awareness.
Exhibition booths serve as a kind of «on-site mini-offices» for enterprises during an exhibition, forum or conference. Types of exhibition stands
Exhibition display stands can be of various types. Their shape and appearance are determined by the goals that the participants set for a particular event, as well as the available budget.
By class, booths for exhibition are divided into: mobile, standard (shell scheme stands), non-standard (custom-modular exhibition stands) and exclusive (custom design exhibition stand).
Mobile exhibition stands are easily transportable and installed compact and lightweight branded structures such as Pop-up, Roll-Up, Press Wall, X-banner. Stands of this type are practically not used by companies at serious international exhibitions, and to design them it is not necessary to contact a professional developer.
Therefore, let’s take a closer look at the types of exhibition stands that are most often ordered by participants at exhibitions, conferences and forums.
Standard exhibition stands
Standard exhibition stands (shell scheme stands) are common layout stands made from Octanorm exhibition structures and white wall panels. They typically have a height of 2.5 meters, a frieze with the company name or logo, carpeted floors, basic furniture and limited decoration.
Stands of this type are often provided by exhibition organizers as part of the basic package of services for participating companies. They have a fairly budget price and the following appearance:
Non-standard exhibition stands
Non-standard exhibition stands (custom-modular exhibition stands) have individual design features, a height of more than 2.5 meters and custom decoration with corporate printing or 3D logos.
These stands are the next step up from the standard booths for companies who want a more customized display stand exhibition. This type of trade show booth are popular because they are a good option in terms of price/quality ratio:
Exclusive exhibition stands
Exclusive exhibition stands are created according to individual design projects, have non-standard architectural forms, bright custom decoration and are made of high-quality materials. Such a display stand exhibition emphasizes the status and premium nature of the company.

Double storey exhibition stand
Double-story exhibition stands are a type of exclusive stands that have a second floor, which allows exhibitors to have more usable space for work.
CARSHE company was the first in Ukraine to begin building two-story exhibition stands in the late 1990s.
Double deck exhibition booth is clearly visible to all visitors in the pavilion and attracts a lot of traffic. On the second floor there is usually a meeting area for VIP clients, with an excellent view of the exhibition around. A stand of this type is an indicator of the status and premium of the company. The cost of a double decker exhibition stand is usually twice as high as that of an exclusive stand of the same area.
Three-story exhibition stands
The CARSHE company was the first in the world (and the only one in Ukraine) to begin building three-story exhibition stands from Octanorm structures.
These stands were unique three-tier structures 7-9 meters high, towering over the entire exhibition exposition.
After the introduction of restrictions on the maximum height of stands to 6.5 m in Ukrainian exhibition centers, the construction of such giants became impossible. However, we still continue to build them in open areas like VDNG center in Kyiv.
Outdoor exhibition stands
Outdoor exhibition stands are built in the open air and therefore have a podium and a roof in case of bad weather.
Most often, exhibition booths of this type in Ukraine are ordered by companies for various types of agricultural exhibitions. When designing outdoor stands, we take into account wind loads and possible precipitation – making the structures reliable and comfortable for customers.
Exhibition display stands configuration
The configuration of exhibition display stands is determined by their location in the pavilion and the number of open sides for visitors.
It is believed that it is better when the exhibition stand has as many open sides as possible. In this case, it can receive traffic of people from different aisles of the exhibition hall.
According to their configuration, exhibition stands are divided into: Linear / Row booths, Corner stands, Peninsula stands and Island stands. Let’s look at each of them in more detail:
Linear / Row exhibition stands have only one side open to visitors, and neighbors (or the walls of the hall) on the other three sides.
Stands of this configuration are considered the least profitable, since only one side is available for working with potential clients. However, as we can see from the example of the Intellias exhibition booth we built, they can also be made truly exclusive and interesting.
Corner exhibition stands have two open sides and neighbors (or hall walls) on the other two sides.
This configuration of stands is quite common, as it is the optimal placement option.
Peninsular exhibition stands have three open sides and only one closed side.
This is an excellent option because it gives exhibitors greater flexibility in the placement of their exhibits and aisle-oriented reception areas. Ordering such a booth for exhibition is a good investment.
Island exhibition stands have all open sides and, accordingly, the best visibility of their exposition.
Ordering such exhibition space from event organizers is usually somewhat more expensive. However, this is often a justified decision. For example, if you have a lot of products that you want to demonstrate to all participants and visitors of the exhibition.
Exhibition stands for rent and for sale
In the vast majority of cases, our clients order exhibition stands for rent for each specific event. Thus, each of their exhibition stands can be completely different from the previous one, have a different area and configuration.
However, from time to time companies come to us with a desire to order an exhibition stand for purchase, which they could reuse and assemble themselves.
We provide this service by explaining to clients that this option is usually beneficial for smaller structures. If you want to order a stand for purchase with an area of 30 square meters or more, we recommend that you first answer the following questions:
- Where will this structure be stored?
- Who will service it? Elements of a stand often need restoration or replacement after transportation, installation and dismantling.
- Who will deliver the exhibition stand to the location and carry out its installation, decoration and dismantling?
- Does the exhibition center where you are planning an event require you to go through an accreditation procedure and obtain permits for installation work?
If all the answers are found, we will be happy to design and manufacture for you an exhibition stand for sale of any size.
As an example of an exhibition stand for sale, we will demonstrate an excellent project for the company BAUSCH HEALTH. We designed and manufactured a modular exhibition stand, which is very easy to assemble using the LEGO construction principle.
The set of sections we have developed provides greater variability and allows our client to use this stand in areas ranging from 2 to 12 square meters. The sections are made of glossy painted MDF and premium laminated chipboard, have lightboxes and LED inserts. The stand features high-quality Belgian vinyl flooring with a blue marble texture.

STAGES OF EXHIBITION STANDS DEVELOPMENT
Filling out the brief
You fill out our short questionnaire with basic information about the project (dates of the event, size of the exhibition stand, number of exhibits, etc.). You can also indicate any information that you consider important
Concept preparation
Our designers will develop a layout and the first 3D visualization of the project, according to the assignment
Approval of the project and estimate
We approve the stand design, make adjustments if necessary and update the visualization. We coordinate production materials, prepare and approve a detailed estimate. We sign a cooperation agreement
Preparation of working documentation
Our architects prepare detailed drawings of the stand. Compile order lists for materials. Managers prepare permits for construction at the exhibition center
Stand production
We transfer the drawings to our production and begin the manufacturing process. We carefully pack the finished items and load them onto pallets
Installation and dismantling
The installation team arrives at the location at the agreed time, assembles the stand and carries out all the work. You accept a completely finished project. After the event, the same team dismantles everything, cleans it and takes it away
